The Outreach Program
Chula Vista Sunrise Rotary had their monthly sunset meeting this week! We welcomed our speaker, Chris Romero, from The Outreach Program, who shared information about this food packaging program. In the past we have enjoyed working with Rise Against Hunger but our club wanted to explore and compare the two programs.

CVSR Travels the Globe
 
 
 
Today's meeting took us around the globe as club members shared their travel stories. With the Rotary International Convention coming up next week in Australia, Rowena shared about the trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil, that she and Mike took in 2015 to the convention. Rochelle and Chris Carroll reminded us of the great fun that was had by many members at the convention in Toronto in 2018. Rotary offers many travel opportunities!

Celebrating Our Youth
Our meeting on Thursday was a combination of guest speakers and updated information!  Gina's students from Hilltop High School joined us virtually to share about their experiences at Model UN and RYLA. Representing the countries of Spain and the UK, the students did research and presented their country's policies regarding food insecurities, rights of women and children, and space insecurity.  They also talked about the inspiration they received from listening to speakers and special team activities during their time at RYLA. Chula Vista Sunrise Rotary is pleased to sponsor these events and proud of the involvement  and pride that Gina and her students have. They are our future leaders!
Trivia Night
 
 
Thanks to all who came out for Team Trivia Challenge 12 to help us raise money for our Community Benefit Fund and Polio Plus. Congratulations to "San Marco Rotary Trivia" team who eked out the title of WINNER in the final round!   We raised $1250 in our 50/50 raffle for Polio Plus in memory of longtime member Alan Harmata who passed away in 2022.  Our winner of the drawing, Kathy Hardy, donated her winnings back to Polio Plus.  Chula Vista Sunrise Rotary members worked like a fine tuned machine to ensure all of our participants had a great time! WELL DONE!

Beginning in July 2022, we will be holding three meetings per month on Thursdays. The first two weeks of each month will be 7 am meetings, with the third week being at evening meeting at 6 pm. We will be DARK the fourth week of each month.
