On this week's Zoom club meeting, we had the pleasure of welcoming and learning from Sandra Scheller, Museum Curator of "Ruth,  Remember Us The Holocaust", currently on display at the Chula Vista Pubic Library.

Sandra wrote her book and created the museum display based on the life of her mother,  Ruth. At age 13, Ruth was put into the first of three concentration camps, where she stayed from 1941-1945.  Ruth spent time at Theresienshadt, Auschwitz, and Oederan Concentration Camps and mostly likely survived because she had lied about her young age! We learned through family photos about the dire conditions they experienced. The museum display features the personal stories of fourteen local survivors. Sandra is passionate about spreading the stories to educate young people. She works in conjunction with the Chula Vista Elementary School District  with 4th-5th graders and is hoping to get involved with the Sweetwater District as well.
